Festival of the Future

I was asked to produce promotional illustrations for each of the event days. The Festival consisted of 5 days in 5 different locations showing off Digital innovation within Dorset. These were used on the Eventbrite pages, News publications and blogs to name a few.

Image depicting the country side and sea, including some housing, robot farming machines, boat with a fisherman on his phone, diver in the water and some school friends chatting

For all of these pieces I took the colour palette from the original Festive logo generated from the previous year which was used in the sky for all. Also I included a monument or a building which would make the location instantly recognisable. These with integrated speakers to give that festival feel. With the landscape I followed the same ethos.

Dorchester

The themes for the Dorchester day was that of tech in farming and mental health. Therefore I added a lady farmer operating farming robots and a drone. For mental health I drew a tent (as per a festival) with a safe looking environment inside.

Weymouth

I centred this around Weymouth's Georgian seafront.. One of the subjects being that of VR tourism I showed this as tourists seeing back into Weymouth's historic past e.g. a smuggler landing with plague rats in toe. 5g buoys were to be a topic so threw one in with a fisherman in his boat checking his phone.  Seaweed farming was shown as a diver tending to the crop underwater.

Bridport

Used Bridport Town Hall for this one.  Assistive tech was a topic, so, with it being a famous market town I went for a market stall trader selling said product. Behind the Hall is an image symbolising assistive living showing a safe community. Mary Anning was to be discussed so her statue is in the distance (as she is actually down the road some in Lyme Regis).

Ferndown

Ferndown Health was the landscape for this one. The topic of Digital Champions are shown in one of the tents as people being helped with using tech.  The subject of kids coding is shown in the tent beside, with them actioning a rocket launch (alongside some scientists).  Smart traffic lights and ebikes are depicted to the right of the picture.

Winfrith

Winfrith Innovation Park was the site for the day hence I used the battle lab building as said "monument".  3D printing was to be spoken about so the building is coming out of said printer.  To visualise cyber security I drew a security officer checking devices at the gate. Future Dorset careers is shown as a careers tent signifying some of the local tech trades. Finally entrepreneurialism in Dorset is dipicted as a dragons den type setup in a tent to the bottom right.
